THE LACR AWARDS – LUSO-AMERICAN COLLABORATIVE RESPONSE AWARDS: TOWARDS NEW RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS ON HIV/AIDS

The LACR Awards (Luso-American Collaborative Response Awards: Towards New Research Partnerships on HIV-AIDS) aim at stimulating international cooperation on the scientific, educational and policy-making dimensions of  research on the diagnostic, treatment and prevention of aids, by providing financial support to innovative start-up projects in these areas. Awards for innovative start-up research projects are made available to conference participants, including speakers, session chairs, and other registered participants of the 2011 Conference-Debate on HIV/AIDS: the Luso-American Response.

Eligibility is limited to projects including at least one Portuguese and one American researcher who have participated in the Conference-Debate on HIV/AIDS: the Luso-American Response.

Priority will be given to:
  -          tripartite proposals (projects involving researchers from three different countries);
  -          innovative projects addressing, for example, application of new technologies to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of AIDS;
  -          innovative papers on policy changes.

Each award consists of a research grant of a maximum of 20.000 Euros.

Applications:
 The application process is open from October 10, 2011 to November 30, 2011.
 The applications must be submitted by e-mail, to rui.vallera@flad.pt and hedjej@niaid.nih.gov.
 The application consists of an email making reference to “LACR AWARDS” in the subject line with two attachments:
1.       A 2-page (maximum) résumé or short CV of the lead researcher in the research project
2.       A 5-page (maximum) project description, plus a one-page project budget (total cost and other sources of funding confirmed or sought)
